The film is based on the motives of the national fairy tales about magic assistants - about the Crane, magic table-cloths, etc. - which protected poor fisherman from the greedy miller. The old fisherman rescues the Crane. The Crane presents to him it magic table-cloth which supplies meal. Greedy neighbour appropriate the table-cloth. The Crane gives the old man a feed bag with live cudgel and helps him to punish the neighbour and to return the table-cloth.
